Synopsis
An information disclosure vulnerability exists in the Database Service in Siemens TeleControl Server Basic (TCSB) V3.1.2.2. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit it to obtain password hashes of TCSB users, allowing the attacker to login to and perform authenticated operations of the database service listening on default TCP port 8000.
Once the password hash of a TCBS user is obtained, the attacker can login to TCBS database service by calling the Authenticate operation, which uses the password hash of a user to authenticate the user.
Once authenticated, the attacker can invoke other operations of the IDatabaseServices. For example, the attacker can invoke the UpdateUsers operation to add an administrative TCBS user.
Solution
Upgrade to version V3.1.2.3 or later.
